Heart Beats and Spin in Old Degenerates

For many decades part of my research interest has been in the rapid brightness variations that occur in systems containing degenerate stars (white dwarfs and neutron stars). I will give an overview of what we can learn from the global oscillations of white dwarfs, and from rotating magnetic degenerate stars that are accreting gas from binary companions.
