Quasar jet structures at ~300 micro-arcsecond angular resolution using Event Horizon Telescope imaging algorithms

Project: 
This project will use a large-scale VLBA survey at 24 GHz to search for optimal sources to include the International Celestial Reference Frame (ICRF). It will simultaneously search for astrophysically interesting sources, such as binary or recoiling supermassive black holes. This is enabled by the extremely high angular resolution (~300 micro-arcseconds, ~2.5 pc at z=1) combined with the large number of sources surveyed. The project will make use of the cutting-edge imaging algorithms developed as part of the Event Horizon Telescope project.
