Relationship between extreme heat and lightning

Project:
There is a clear relationship between atmospheric temperature, cloud formation and lightning occurrence. Warm air close to the Earth’s surface convects upwards and, in the process, cools. If the air is also moist then this may result in cloud formation. Condensation occurs when the dew point temperature is reached. When the resulting clouds are of the cumulonimbus variety, strong convection within the clouds leads to charge separation and hence lightning.
