Long Term Variations of Ionospheric Parameters over Southern Africa

Project Description: 

The Southern Africa Network of GNSS Receivers and Ionosondes has amassed a wealth of data spanning more than two solar cycles. This project employs the existing long-term datasets to calculate ionospheric parameters, including Total Electron Content (TEC) over Southern Africa, at different epochs of solar cycles. The aim is to compare these results with Ionosondes observations and empirical models, such as the International Reference Ionosphere model. This study is poised to advance our understanding of the long-term variability of the ionosphere over Africa, holding particular significance for high-frequency communications, navigation and space weather related applications and services.
